En novembre 1967, Salvador Dali organise à l'Hôtel Meurice à Paris une exposition intitulée "Hommage à Meissonnier". Il réunit autour de son tableau "La pêche au thon" des oeuvres d'Alfred Meissonnier, Edouard Detaille, Alphonse de Neuville, Giovanni Boldini et Gustave Moreau.
