DETAILS
Duchamp created this study in preparation for construction of the lower pane of The Large Glass (Philadelphia Museum of Art, 1952-98-1), the Bachelors’ Apparatus, working out the perspectival system for the “cemetery of uniforms and liveries” on tracing paper. In addition to studies like this, he made voluminous notes while preparing The Large Glass, publishing a selection in boxed editions in 1934.
